The Treasurer of the congregation is established by the church constitution and bylaws. The Treasurer is an officer of the congregation and sits on the Executive Committee along with the President, Vice President, and Secretary.

This elected position on the Congregation Council provides the financial services for this congregation and assists in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget. The Treasurer is accountable to this congregation.

Primary charges include responsibilities such as:

• Receive all money for this congregation and deposit it in the name of this congregation in the bank stipulated by the Congregation Council.
  
• Disburse all money properly in accordance with authorized financial controls.
  
• Keep accurate financial records. Keep permanent books of account and records sufficient to establish the items of gross income, receipts, and disbursements of this congregation.
  
• Present a statement of account at every meeting of the Congregation Council and at the first regularly called Congregation Meeting of the year.
  
• Submit the books for audit annually, at a date to be determined by the Congregation Council.
  
• Assist the Congregation Council in the preparation of the annual budget.
  
• Prepare the annual tax statement.
  
• Establish lines of credit.
  
• Hire and supervise neccessary church staff (such as a bookkeeper) to help and assist in accounting or other pecuniary matters.
  
• Preside over the Finance Committee.
  

The Treasurer is bonded and together with the President and Secretary is able to sign all legal documents authorized by the congregation in behalf of the congregation.

The Treasurer should be reliable, bondable, and willing and able to carry out the responsibilities of this office and have some accounting or financial background and be willing to undertake a training program to acquire a working knowledge of the financial operating procedures of this congregation.
