The Finance Committee of the congregation is established by the church constitution and bylaws and is presided over by the Treasurer.

The purpose of the Finance Committee is to advise, help and support the Trasurer who provides the financial services for this congregation, assists in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and who is accountable to this congregation.

Primary responsibilities of the Treasurer (supported by this committee) include:

• Receive all money for this congregation and deposit it in the name of this congregation in the bank stipulated by the Congregation Council.
  
• Disburse all money properly in accordance with authorized financial controls.
  
• Keep accurate financial records. Keep permanent books of account and records sufficient to establish the items of gross income, receipts, and disbursements of this congregation.
  
• Present a statement of account at every meeting of the Congregation Council and at the first regularly called Congregation Meeting of the year.
  
• Submit the books for audit annually, at a date to be determined by the Congregation Council.
  
• Assist the Congregation Council in the preparation of the annual budget.
  
• Prepare the annual tax statement.
  
• Establish lines of credit.
  
• Hire and supervise neccessary church staff (such as a bookkeeper) to help and assist in accounting or other pecuniary matters.
  

Additionally, it is the purview of the Finance Committee to approve and coordinate all fund-raising activities of this congregation.

Members of this committee serve in an advisory capacity and have no official say or vote on the Congregation Council ; although, members can research issues, discuss and make recommendations to the Treasurer to take to the Congregation Council for vote, authorization or to make policy. Members of this committee generally assist the Treasurer as needed and appropriate.
