Our Ministries
Bible Study
Join us we gather for meaningful conversation and reflection on the gospel reading for the upcoming Sunday. All are welcome, whether you’re new or have joined us before and Bibles are provided. We’d love to have you with us!

Chain Gang
The Chain Gang is a ministry of fellowship and of service to Tierrasanta Lutheran Church. Our members get together on the third Saturday of each month to address maintenance issues or work landscaping tasks around the campus. While doing so, we share a unique camaraderie as we work together serving God and our Church.
Confirmation Ministry
We seek to be a model of Christian education that restores parents as the primary faith teachers, mentors and role models for their own children with church as reinforcement – not replacement – of the parent’s duties. Confirmation at TLC is dedicated to the health and welfare of God’s families and children.
Giving Garden
The Community Giving Garden is a shared space dedicated to growing food, learning, and serving others. It brings people together through gardening while supporting outreach efforts in the wider community.
The garden includes a mix of communal, individual, and children’s plots, creating opportunities for people of all ages to participate. A portion of what is grown is donated to local outreach organizations to help support those in need.
Godly Play
Godly Play is a unique and thoughtful approach to children’s spiritual formation that honors the idea that every child already carries a natural awareness of God’s presence. Rather than simply teaching memorized lessons, Godly Play invites children to explore faith through storytelling, wonder, creativity, and reflection. Using hands-on materials and engaging narratives from Scripture and Christian tradition, children are encouraged to enter the stories, ask meaningful questions, and discover how God is at work in their own lives.
Military Outreach Ministry
In the broader Tierrasanta community and neighboring Serra Mesa community, there are thousands of military families. Through our Military Outreach Ministry, Tierrasanta Lutheran Church endeavors to welcome and support our military community by working with both the Murphy Canyon Chapel and the MCAS Miramar Chapel and their Chaplains.
Music Ministry
Our vocal choir offers anthems of praise and comfort during our 8:30 am and Unity worship services. We sing many styles from spirituals to Baroque to Classical to Gospel. Each anthem draws on the Bible readings for the day, as another expression of the Word being shared.
Quilting Ministry
Prayers and Squares quilts, Linus children’s quilts, high school graduate quilts, patriotic quilts donated to Balboa Hospital, Lutheran World Relief quilts and prayer squares.
Our quilting ministry creates and shares a variety of handmade quilts and prayer gifts as expressions of faith, comfort, and care. These include Prayers and Squares quilts made to offer encouragement and prayerful support.
Kids Ministry
During the school year, children ages 3 through fifth grade, meet in the Youth Building to share in Bible lessons from Godly Play. It is a time for wondering, exploring, and hearing God's word in creative, with hands on ways.
Youth Ministry
Our middle and high school youth join together for opportunities in worship leadership, service projects and fellowship events.
We have monthly outing to fun places like: SD Humane Society, Paintball, Thrift Store Scavenger hunts, beach days and more.
Fellowship Committee
Being part of a church committee is more than just planning and organizing—it’s an opportunity to share God’s love, build meaningful connections, and enjoy one another’s presence. Together, we support one another, grow in faith, and find joy in the time we spend serving side by side.
