The Social Ministry Committee of the congregation is established by the church constitution and bylaws and is presided over by the Director of Social Ministry.

The purpose of the Social Ministry Committee is to advise, help and support the Director of Social Ministry who oversees all aspects of social ministry by providing input and helping plan and run ministry events.

Primary responsibilities of the director (supported by this committee) include:

• Maintain the importance of social ministry to the total person in the eyes of this congregation.
  
• Seek ways and means of closer cooperation with all people of good will in responding to situations, problems and needs of the community.
  
• Catalog the many opportunities for social ministry.
  
• Encourage the people of this congregation to become involved in community affairs.
  

Members of this committee serve in an advisory capacity and have no official say or vote on the Congregation Council ; although, members can research issues, discuss and make recommendations to the director to take to the Congregation Council for vote, authorization or to make policy. Members of this committee generally assist the director as needed and appropriate.
