TLC Group Information
Visitation is a central theme to Christian fellowship.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.
Matthew 25:35-35
This is the clearest teaching on visitation. Jesus identifies Himself with those who are sick, lonely, or confined — visiting them is visiting Him. It’s the foundation for hospital, homebound, and prison ministry.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
James 1:27
Visitation here means compassionate presence — not just checking in, but sharing burdens and embodying God’s care.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.
Hebrews 13:3
Hebrews issues a call to empathy and solidarity — visiting others as if you were in their place.
The Visitation Crew lives out the mission of Tierrasanta Lutheran Church by
It brings together those who feel called to live out Christ's command to love one another and serve Christ by serving others and engaging them with Christian fellowship and love.
When we engage in compassionate visitation we bring back the ember that fell away from the fire and we recall Jesus's words that
For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.
Matthew 18:20
When there is need this group provides a resource of people ready and willing to bring Christian fellowship to those who, for whatever reason, cannot come to Christian fellowship on their own.
